Global Seller Onboarding was a team in Square Inc.; they'd go by "GSO" for short. The team was responsible for providing "white glove service" to business owners using Square's hardware and software. GSO would meet each owner onsite and train their staff members. I was responsible for creating the GSO logo that would eventually be branded on apparel for the GSO employees.

To gain more information about GSO, I met with the 3 GSO leads. I had them explain what Global Seller Onboarding meant to them and their employees. They all had similar answers. GSO is a group of specialists who provide "white glove" service to business owners using Square. With this in mind, I thought of different ways to design a logo that represented handing Square to business owners on a silver platter. I also drafted logos that played off of the words "specialist and "global".

Finalists

After showing the rough designs to the GSO leads, they had me move forward with the 2 designs below. They all liked the incorporation of the Earth because it fit the name Global Seller Onboarding and took advantage of the acronym GSO. They had me make a few changes to the other finalists by making the employee icons look more realistic and adding the Earth icon to the GSO text.

Once the GSO leads agreed upon the 2 finalists, I presented the GSO logo to the Global Seller Onboarding employees. I explained my reasoning behind my design decisions and had them vote on which logo they liked the best. It was a close one, but the logo including the name GSO and the Square Inc. logo underneath it, won the most votes. After the vote, the logo was branded onto ballcaps, tote bags, and sweatshirts the employees can wear when they train the business's staff onsite.
